Preparing for a new baby can be overwhelming - especially if it's your first baby.

When it comes to setting up a nursery, there are a few items that will make your life easier and many items that are nice to haves but non essential!

Here is a list of things we found essential when setting up a nursery for our little ones.

COT

Your cot is the jewel in the crown of every nursery. Your baby will (hopefully) spend lots of time sleeping in it and it definitely helps by having a designated sleeping space. To extend the lifespan of your cot, try to find one that converts into a toddler bed! Our friends at Sacred Bundle have some beautiful options available.

SWADDLES

Finding a swaddle or wrap that makes your baby feel safe and secure is essential. You will need to trial to find out what your littlest love prefers when sleep. Our friends at Purebaby Organic have many options available and in a wide range of sizes.

BEDDING

The only thing you need in your cot for your baby is a beautiful cot sheet! There are tips and tricks you can use (layers for those midnight mishaps), but for the first year of babies life their sleeping space should be bare. You can find some gorgeous options at Snuggle Hunny Kids!

DOCKATOT

A portable baby nest is a great addition to your nursery and home! For moments when you need both of your hands, a DockATot will be there to keep baby close by while you tackle parenting duties. See our range of newborn baby nests here.

CHANGE TABLE

Investing in a change table that also doubles as storage for all the nappies and wipes you'll be using is a great investment. Another option is getting a mat that sits on top of a dresser so you don't need to purchase additional furniture.

NURSING CHAIR

This is an item we found irreplaceable! You can spend 4 or 5 hours a day feeding and snuggling so it's so important to find something that is supportive and has good neck support and arm supports. You might also like using a nursing pillow while feeding to make sure baby is supported and you're comfortable.

NAPPY BIN

No one wants to be making trips to the outside bin with stinky nappies in the middle of the night! A nappy bin is essential, but you need to make sure you empty it very frequently. No ones likes smelly nappies.

MONITOR

A baby monitor allows you to keep an eye on your bub from a distance and can give new parents piece of mind while baby is sleeping. There are a range of different baby monitors in the market at the moment with lots of different features. Our friends at Cubo Ai have an award-winning smart baby monitor.

We hope you find inspiration from our nursery set up checklist! If there is anything you'd add to this list, comment below.
