Valentine's Day is just around the corner and with a new baby in your arms, I'm sure it's the last thing on your mind. Through sleepless nights, plenty of nappy changes and feeding, Valentine's Day is however the perfect opportunity to cherish each other and celebrate your love.

To help out this Valentine's Day, we’ve curated a list of beautiful ideas to surprise your partner.

Breakfast in Bed

There's nothing quite like a slow morning in the sheets. Cuddling baby in your arms while your partner makes coffee and breakfast and brings it into bed. A slow, beautiful morning spent together as a family is the perfect way to start Valentine's Day.

Flowers

Flowers can lighten and brighten a room and is a beautifully easy way to say 'I love you and was thinking of you'. If you're after something that lasts longer than a week or two, have a look at some dried flower arrangements that can last up to 10 years. But keep in mind that these tend to be more expensive!

If you don't have a local florist, try an online platform like LVLY or if you're in Melbourne, The Posy Story

Mama Me Time

Although Mamas absolutely love being a mama, they still require some 'me-time'. Why not offer to take care of baby while Mum has a bubble bath and face mask, or arrange for her to get her hair done or a little massage... maybe even a couple of hours to read a book outside in the sunshine.

Check out Go-To or Mecca for a range of relaxing, hydrating and nourishing face masks.

Handwritten Card

It really is the small things that count. I absolutely love the thought and time that is spent making and handwriting a card. You could print off a picture of your family for the front, or make a heart out of baby footprints. Inside write a few words, a little anecdote, a memory and how much you love her.

You can pick up a card from your local store and pop some freshly picked lavender inside with your handwritten note.

Fresh Bed Sheets

I don't know about you, but there is something truly delicious about fresh, clean bed sheets. Why not strip the bed, put a load or two of washing on and make the bed with a fresh set of sheets. Adding a few drops of lavender essential oils will give the sheets a gorgeous smell, and lavender also helps with sleep!

If it's been a while since you've bought linen, check out the range at Sage & Clare or Linen House.

Candle

Nothing says romance like a beautiful candle. Pair a scented candle with a romantic bath or massage for a lovely Valentine's Day gift for your partner. See if you can find a local company that pours candles.

I love the South Australian candles made by Etikette.

Framed Picture

Something to treasure for a long time, print off some pictures of the two of you together and some family pictures and frame them. If you don't have any recent pictures together, organise a family photoshoot and wrap up some empty frames with a handmade voucher letting her know about the activity.

The Birth Poster now has options to print and frame pictures of your family.

Plants

If your partner prefers flowers or plants that are living, why not but a gorgeous house plant with a pot or a fruit tree to plant in the garden? The world of plants is vast and there will be something there that she will love.

Find a plant and pots at your local nursery!

Mama Massage

If she loves getting a message then book her a relaxing massage or facial at a local day spa. If you're not sure what she'll love, you could buy a voucher and put it with something else from this list.

Endota Spa has lots of packages available for both massages and facials.

Holiday

Book a little holiday for you and enjoy a little getaway together. AirBnB is a great platform to look for a holiday house either a flight or drive away, or if you want something more unique have a look at Camplify! Don't forget to bring your DockATot so baby has a familiar spot to lounge and play while you relax.

We hope this list of surprises and gifts for your partner on Valentine's Day gives you a jump start with some ideas to celebrate the love you share with your partner.
