The excitement of expecting a new baby can quickly turn to bewilderment when you realise just how many baby products there are! It can be hard to know what you actually need, what will work or what will eventually just clutter your house.

As a mama to four beautiful kidlets - and as someone who likes to keep life simple - I thought I would list my baby essentials to help you keep your baby registry sweet and simple!

Apart from the DockATot of course, these were all time Top Five...

Ergobaby Baby Carrier and Wrap

Babywearing Saved. My. Sanity. I honestly didn't even used a pram until I was pregnant with my second and my bump was too big! I particularly loved using a newborn wrap for those first few months. It was so soft and felt like a second skin...my husband and I would actually fight to wear our baby in this. Such sweet snuggly moments! I graduated to a soft structured Ergobaby 360 carrier which I used until my kids were all toddlers. Babywearing was so particularly helpful when we went of family holidays and when our kids were sick.

The Ergobaby Original Wrap and Carriers are my favs. I have found them on sale at Babes In Arms. You can thank me later ;)

Back Pack Nappy Bag

Since I was an avid babywearing mama, I found a Nappy Bag that converted into a backpack absolutely essential. I managed to keep all my baby gear on my back and wore my babies on my front. This combo meant I was handsfree and ready to roll at a moment's notice without having to lug around a bulky pram. My all time fav is Alf the Label, their bags are so flipping pretty and practical. My go-to from their range is the 'Ari' as it is so versatile with 3 carrying options.

Baby Muslin Wraps

I used Muslin Wraps to swaddle my babies and as breastfeeding covers. I have also seen them being used over prams as a sun cover. Pop Ya Tot's prints are so lush! I would definitely stock up on at least a couple as you go through them like nothing else. One in your Nappy Bag, one in the wash.

Portable Baby Chair

We have always enjoyed family dinners altogether rather than feeding our babies earlier. Yes it was messy but it gave us daily opportunities to catch up on each other's day and connect. I believe it's the little daily rhythms that add up in the end. Phil and Ted's award-winning Lobster high chair easily screwed onto any table, kept our baby close and at the same height as the rest of the family. It's so lightweight and portable, a must-have on family holidays too!

Baby Monitor

Baby Monitors give you peace of mind when your baby is sleeping. The Owlet Smart Sock is super smart since it monitors your baby's heart rate and oxygen levels. If you are looking for a camera option, I love the Lollipop brand as it just wraps around anything which is super handy. It also plays white noise....a win win!

I hope my short list of baby essentials takes a load of your shoulders and helps you remember that really, your baby just wants YOU! Your baby will coo with delight just being held, being rocked to sleep, being played with and sung to. Your baby won't remember your fancy purchases or messy house. The way you made her feel will imprint in her DNA and the happy memories will last forever in her bones.

Wishing you all the very best as you and your families make happy memories together!

Lots of Love,

Anita and the DockATot Fam xx
