Honouring your body is a practiced art. Honouring your body is something many women struggle with throughout all stages of life (whether you’ve been pregnant or not). I believe learning to honour your body after giving birth, is a rite of passage on its own and a stepping stone to feeling empowered as both a woman and a mother.
Those early postpartum days can be foggy, messy, beautiful, tiresome, we are over the moon in love, meeting all our baby’s needs… so much so that we often forget the incredible marathon our body has just endured. Pregnancy and birth require all our strength and energy. And so, to acknowledge and honour that we must be gentle with ourselves and embrace a slow postpartum - an opportunity of healing, rest, rejuvenation. Yet in these modern times, rest is often overlooked and underestimated.
Bringing new life into the world is a transformative experience which comes with love and joy but also fears, challenges and potentially experiencing postnatal anxiety and depression.
Becoming a parent is transformative and life-altering and amongst the joy of new life, there are challenges and big emotions. As friends and family, we are here to support and help them in this new stage of life (+ maybe steal a few newborn cuddles!). Help a new parent feel supported by asking these questions:

From that delicious newborn who was so dependent, to now having a little toddler running around and moving into their own big bed. Figuring out exactly when to transition your toddler from their cot to their own big kid bed is one of those parental dilemmas we all have to face. We turned to paediatric sleep consultant Melissa Brown of Sleep Shop for some answers and recommendations on how to move kids from cot to their own beds.Â
Adjusting to life with a new baby can be really tricky (I’m convinced that’s why they’re so cute to look at!). After being a midwife for almost 10 years, I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way that will make life a little easier for you in those first few weeks.
Right now, I am your home. My life changed in an instant when I saw that line appear, you picked me and I am so happy to be yours. I’m watching my app, waiting for the fruit or vegetable to get bigger, waiting until I can see that little bump, more proof that you’ll be in our lives soon. Because sometimes I can’t believe this is real.
No one can tell you what becoming a mother feels like. No one can explain the emotions that will wash over you the moment you meet you child. They will try, but instead they might tell you of the harder times, they may leave out the beauty, because the truth is, the moment you meet your child is meant to be indescribable.
